We finally get to play in the Metro. … We get these guys a few out of the next 11 days. It’s great.”On what the team has done well in its six-game home winning streak: “I think we’re overall playing better consistently and getting production from all four lines, guys coming into the lineup and helping out.”On tonight’s lineup: “We need to have four lines. They’ve got four lines deep. … We need to have everybody. We’ve got to get it figured out in the bottom six with the Kruger injury.”On how Cam Ward’s ability to play the puck helps the Canes: “You play faster in D-zone transition. … If pucks end up in the trapezoid and your goaltender can play them and execute in that situation, all of a sudden you can leave, go play through the neutral zone and into the offensive zone. If you don’t execute in that situation, you’re typically in D-zone coverage, and that’s where trouble starts. We’d rather be efficient in goalie-D exchange, and typically we are.”On Haydn Fleury getting back into the lineup: “He’s got to come in and just be himself. He’s been physical when he’s been in the lineup. He moves pucks and makes a real good first pa s. First year in the National Hockey League, there’s a little bit of an ebb and flow to the schedule and a rookie season. I think he’s really worked hard trying to get himself back in the lineup. Now it’s his opportunity, and he has to take advantage of it. Sebastian Aho Jersey I think he will.”On Lucas Wallmark’s first game of the season: “He played good. He was one of the guys who was going. We didn’t have our best performance, obviously, but he was one of the guys who played well and got better as he settled into the game. … I think he’s comfortable around our guys. Our guys are comfortable and like playing with him because he’s a smart guy who makes plays. He should be good tonight.”Video: Bill Peters: “It’s a huge game”CANES LINES: Early morning SKATE10:35 a.m.It’ll be a bit of a different look for the Hurricanes tonight, as least on the third and fourth lines. Tuesday’s game, the Canes’ first of 2018, may be the first of a few meetings concerning the two teams in a span of 11 days.”It’s exciting. You take it one game at a time but you look deeper into the schedule, and we play them a lot, 3 times in the next two weeks,” head coach Bill Peters said after his team’s practice on New Year’s Working day. “Let’s get off to a good start in our head-to-head season series by winning tomorrow in regulation.”The Hurricanes convey into the game a season-long six-game winning streak at home that dates back to late November.”We’ve been very responsible. We’ve been able to play all four lines, and we haven’t given up much,” Peters said about what his team has done well during the streak. “We’ve been real good with our decisions leaving the zone and not giving up any odd-man rushes. We Jack Drury Jersey got away from it a little in our last game.”That game, a 3-2 lo s in St. Louis, snapped the Hurricanes’ four-game winning streak and kept them on the outside of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.”We never got skating. We didn’t skate like we could. I don’t think we ever got to our game,” Peters said. “We’ve got to establish our game early, get to it and build off it. I think we’ve done a good job of that recently.”Still, the Canes ended 2017 winners in seven of their previous nine games, and they still sit just a point out of a wild card spot. And, with a divisional-heavy schedule ahead, the Canes are in a good position to keep climbing in the standings.”It’s perfect. It’s exactly what you want. You control your own destiny in that regard,” Peters said. “Our guys are well aware of wherever the standings are in the Metro, who we play and who we don’t play.”Washington paces the most competitive division in the NHL with 51 points and a 24-13-3 record. They’re just 8-8-3 away from home, however, and are winle s in their previous a few road games.CANESPR NOTES: Jordan Staal has totaled seven points (3g, 4a) in his previous six games against the Capitals. Since the 2005-06 season, the Canes are 30-2-5 when they score three or a lot more goals in a game against Washington.CLICKS AND CLIPPINGSArticlesStempniak Nearing Return from InjuriesRecap: Blues Snap Canes’ StreakVideosStempniak SkatesHighlights: STL 3, CAR 2Gameday LinksBuy Tickets20th AnniversaryFirst Goal Contest presented by Kayem
